Announced September 13, the new Nikon D600 made full-frame digital photography more accessible with a compact body and more affordable price. But that did not last long, because today on September 17, Canon announces the EOS 6D, their own entry-level full-frame DSLR that will go head-to-head with the Nikon D600.
The Canon EOS 6D brings a 20.6 megapixel full-frame sensor into a 26.7 oz body (755g with battery and media card, 680g without battery). The sensor has an ISO range of 100-25,600 and expanded range from 50-102,400 via internal processing. Maximum continuous shooting of 4.5 frames per second. A new 11-point auto focus system features a center cross type sensor capable of -3EV sensitivity. The built-in Wi-Fi transmittor provides wireless transfer of images as well as remote operation using wireless devices including iOS and Android with the EOS Remote app. The 6D also features built-in GPS to record location automatically on your images.
Retail price on the body-only version of the Canon 6D in the US is $2099, the same price as the equivalent Nikon full-frame. There are some significant differences between them, and determining which one to choose will probably be based more about the lenses you own, rather than material differences between the two cameras. But to be sure, let’s compare the two to see how they stack up.

Pingback: Canon Announces EOS 6D 20.6 MP Full Frame DSLR, Goes Head-to-head Against Nikon D600 | Nikon D600
wellcome,good for us!!!
it seen the nikon D600 more worth to invest!!
Buying electronics camera I don’t regard as investment instead it is an expense. New model keeps coming in line for every 12months. Old model will tends to phrase out and no value. In the other hands those mechanical camera will preserve its value as a collection.
If there is anything in equipment that is considered an investment, it’s the good lenses
Built in WIFi is a good thing for Canon. I mean DR has much better the D600. I am anxious to know how will be the noise comparison between this direct rivals.
I experienced the Nikon D600 in their show room. I found the shutter noise in D600 is much quiter than the D800.
Nikon let us down on price anyway, we were lead to believe it would be cheaper
I don’t think Nikon announced a price. You may have been led astray by rumour sites which hoped the price would come in around $1500, but you can’t blame Nikon for those.
Waiting for DXO test – but also wait for day when Nikon start shiping accessoris
WU-1b & GP-1a
included
I read about the announcement at lunch today, and thought coming back and giving the specs another read might change my opinion; but now for the second time, and up against the d600 especially, this is a pretty underwhelming release from Canon. The 6D is under-specced in every aspect compared to the D600, plus completely lacks features like pop-up flash and AF assist light despite being geared toward enthusiasts. And for the same price, no less. Unless this drops significantly in price, I won’t be buying this camera. Might just wait for 7D Mk II – I have higher hopes for that.

I think the d600 is the better one and now it’s time to change to full format 😉
Anybody have any experience with the D600 yet, and timelapsing??.as there’s to many issues with the D800 and ramping..
One set back is why don’t they build-in the Wi-fi and the GPS in the Nikon D600.
Function D600 like D7000 but more on full frame pixel and image processing worth to add more budget
